Paula Wallace

Paula Wallace is the president and founder of the Savannah College of Art and Design, a private, nonprofit, accredited university with a mission to prepare students for creative careers. Established in 1978, SCAD is the most comprehensive art and design university, offering 100 academic degree programs and locations in Atlanta, Lacoste, and Savannah, and online via SCAD eLearning. Under Wallace's leadership, SCAD has grown to more than 18,500 students and more than 60,000 alumni and gained international renown for its preeminent education and professional preparation.

Wallace is known for creating SCAD signature events, including the Savannah Film Festival, SCAD deFINE ART, SCADstyle, SCAD TVfest, and SCAD Fashion Show. Her publications include children's books, interior design books, and a memoir, “The Bee and the Acorn.” Wallace has been named among Condé Nast’s "Daring 25," DesignIntelligence's "30 Most Admired Educators," and Blouin Artinfo's "Power List: High-Wattage Women of the Art World."  She is an honorary member of the AIA and recipient of the 2016 Roger Milliken Honorary AIA Legacy Award, 2016 Arthur Ross Award for Stewardship, 2016 NTHP Louise du Pont Crowninshield Award, and 2017 ASID Nancy Vincent McClelland Merit Award. Wallace was appointed a Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Embassy in the United States of America and the Georgia Historical Society named her a 2015 Georgia Trustee. She serves on the National Advisory Board of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
