Hanak Hall houses the SCAD human resources department

Hanak Hall

Physical address:

612 Drayton St.
Savannah, Georgia

A four-story, simplified Italianate-style townhouse, Hanak Hall was built in 1872 for Col. William H. Baker. It was acquired by the Georgia Medical Society in 1914 and remained medical offices into the early 2000s, which included a period as the Savannah Tumor Clinic until the relocation of Candler Hospital in the 1980s.

Overlooking the eastern edge of Forsyth Park, the home was listed as a contributing building to the Downtown Savannah Historic District in 1979. SCAD purchased the property in 2020 and, after restoration, connected it to neighboring Clinard Hall via a breezeway.

Hanak Hall is named for SCAD chief human resources officer Lesley Hanak, in recognition of her 25-plus years of service and leadership in the university’s human resources department.
