Attendance

Students are expected to actively engage in courses to achieve the required learning outcomes. Absences in excess of 20% of the course (e.g., five absences for a 10-week course that meets twice per week) result in a failing grade, unless the student withdraws from the course in accordance with the withdrawal policy. Absences due to late registration are included in the overall absences permitted for the course.

On-ground attendance
For on-ground courses, students are expected to attend all scheduled class sessions. Tardiness, early departure, or other time away from class in excess of 15 minutes per class session is considered an absence for that class session.

SCADnow online attendance
For SCADnow courses, students are expected to check the online course site regularly and academically engage in the work of the course. To earn attendance, students must complete a qualifying academic engagement on a minimum of two separate days per unit/week for 10-week courses, or four separate days per unit/week for 5-week courses.

Qualifying academic engagement is defined as participating in live class sessions (e.g., camera is on with the student visibly present, verbal participation, or use of the chat feature); posting to discussion forums or blogs; submitting assignments; completing quizzes or examinations; attending extra help sessions, office hours, or midterm conferences; and/or corresponding with professors regarding course content.
