International Red Dot ranking celebrates SCAD's worldwide influence in design
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA — The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has been named the No. 1 design university in the Americas and Europe by the internationally acclaimed Red Dot Design Ranking. SCAD is the only U.S. institution recognized in the top five, cementing its reputation as the world's preeminent university for art, design, and creative innovation.
"We are honored and proud to be recognized by Red Dot as the leading design university in the Americas and Europe," said Jason Fox, chief academic officer at SCAD. "Design drives every corner of our world, and SCAD stands at the forefront of innovation. This ranking celebrates our talented students and the vision of our exemplary faculty and staff — and SCAD's commitment to creativity, research and real-world impact, and the creative professions of tomorrow."
In addition to the Red Dot Design Ranking, the Red Dot Design Awards are an international seal of excellence. The global competition honors extraordinary achievements in the categories of Product Design, Design Concept, and Brands & Communication Design. SCAD's No. 1 ranking reflects the university's preeminence and exceptional performance in the Red Dot Design Awards in the past five years, including top honors earned by its students. This year marks SCAD's most successful showing to date, with 48 students and alumni collectively receiving 23 awards, including three coveted Best of the Best distinctions. The award-winning concepts span an array of the university's top-ranked disciplines, including industrial design, fashion, user experience design, fibers, accessory design, furniture design, and interactive design and game development, illustrating how SCAD continues to powerfully shape the future of design across industries worldwide. On Oct. 15, 2025, 28 SCAD students attended the Red Dot Design Award ceremony in Singapore to celebrate this record achievement.
Since 2014, SCAD students and alumni have received more than 185 Red Dot Design Awards, consistently placing the university among the top design universities globally. This prestigious recognition reinforces SCAD's reputation as The University for Creative Careers, preparing the next generation of global design innovators.
