The Savannah College of Art and Design presents SCADstyle 2022
The highly anticipated three-day signature event unites the university community with top design minds who share of-the-moment inspirations exclusively with SCAD.
SAVANNAH AND ATLANTA, GEORGIA — The Savannah College of Art and Design announces SCADstyle 2022, the 16th edition of the university’s annual power-stacked design summit. Taking place April 4–6 with in-person and streaming events in Savannah and Atlanta, SCADstyle offers intimate access to today’s go-to design stars who offer insight on the top trends heating up in 2022. From beauty, fashion, and footwear to architecture, advertising, and beyond, SCADstyle covers the hottest design domains, engaging the SCAD community in thrilling talks and panels on contemporary practices and future innovations, as well as career-making networking opportunities with design leaders across creative industries.
“I created SCADstyle with a singular goal: to give SCAD students the opportunity to ask anything of today’s top entrepreneurs and designers,” said SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace. “Our Bees swarm every SCADstyle event in search of inspiration and answers to their most urgent questions: how to launch a startup and navigate a career in design, how to leverage social media to generate brand interest, what is the future of sustainability, and so much more. This year’s SCADstyle brings influencers and design pros like Antwaun Sargent, Ashley Longshore, and others to SCAD Savannah, SCAD Atlanta, and SCADnow, delivering the creative spark that kindles international professions.”
Additional featured guests include renowned photographer Tyler Mitchell, Allure editor-in-chief Jessica Cruel, Chromat founder and creative director Becca McCharen-Tran, architect and activist Pascale Sablan, author and editor Véronique Hyland, global head of digital marketing and strategy at Coty Nilukshi De Silva, and good light founder David Yi, who will all take part in dynamic programming.
This year’s SCADstyle event also coincides with the announcement of the new SCAD sneaker design minor launching in Spring 2022. Driven by student interest and alumni success in the field, the SCAD sneaker design minor will propel graduates to the top of this lucrative industry and be offered at both SCAD Savannah and Atlanta locations. The minor includes five courses de-signed to develop students’ knowledge and skills in sketching, rendering, concept development, design, digital prototyping, and branding for luxury and high-performance sneakers. Working with leading-edge virtual-reality technology, students amplify possibilities for innovative and sustainable sneaker design and manufacturing. Students who complete the sneaker design minor emerge with a professional-quality portfolio that includes both physical and digital prototypes of original sneaker designs.
To commemorate the announcement, SCADstyle includes two sneaker-focused programs including an alumni panel in Savannah on April 5 featuring industry leaders Zaneta Horne, Cesar Idrobo, Carson Whittaker, and Quintin Williams. On April 6, SCAD will host an additional panel with Horne, Idrobo, and Williams in Atlanta.
SCADstyle 2022 programming represents many of the university’s top-ranked degree programs, including accessory design, advertising and branding, architecture, business of beauty and fragrance, fashion, luxury and brand management, photography, and social strategy and management.
