SCAD named top international university by Atlanta Business Chronicle

The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has earned major acclaim for its global mindedness at the 2014 Atlanta World Showcase and Governor's International Awards.

The event was hosted by the Atlanta Business Chronicle magazine and honored institutions and leaders with strong ties to Atlanta that represent the very best in international business. SCAD won in the International Education Program category for its diversified presence with locations in Atlanta, Savannah, France and Hong Kong.

"SCAD's accredited degree programs and campuses on three continents are recognized with this award," said SCAD Co-Founder and President Paula Wallace. "From Turkey to Thailand, our alumni are in demand across the global marketplace of ideas, inventions, art, and design. Business grows through innovation, and SCAD grads are at the forefront."

The acclaim comes days after SCAD earned recognition as a top ten university in the Americas and Europe at the 2014 Red Dot Design Award, an honor given for SCAD’s innovative design programs. Red Dot draws more than 11,000 submissions each year in several categories from roughly 60 countries. The award ceremony was held in downtown Singapore on Friday, Sept. 26.

SCAD’s international growth took off in 2002 when it opened a location in Lacoste, France. Locations were also later opened in Atlanta in 2005 and Hong Kong in 2010, creating opportunities for students to overlap their education internationally, while bringing students from all over the world to Georgia.

The university's global presence has contributed to 93 percent of respondents among spring 2013 graduates finding employment or pursuing higher education, or both, many in international hubs including Atlanta, New York, London, Mumbai, Paris, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Shanghai within 10 months of graduation.
