Self-portraits, still life photos among SCAD student Communication Arts winners

SCAD students from three disciplines won honors in Communication Arts' annual photography competition, earning coveted places in the magazine's yearly collection of winning work.

Students from fashion and photography both earned recognition for self-portraits: Tamra Gould (B.F.A., fashion, 2020) and her photo Controlled Chaos, depicting Gould balancing on a tipping chair, and Rose Jerome (M.F.A., photography, 2020) and her Black Mountain series, featuring Jerome and her newborn daughter at home. Erin Robey (B.A., visual communication, 2020) mimicked the feel of Dutch still life imagery in her winning photo, Chiaroscuro.

The Communication Arts Photography Competition is an international juried competition honoring the top creativity in photography. Students and professionals are encouraged to submit their best work in advertising, editorial, unpublished material, and more. Winning entries are published worldwide in print and digital editions in the Communication Arts Photography Annual.
