SCAD students win ASID student competition honors and internships

The ASID Student Portfolio Competition recognizes the most outstanding work by interior design students each year. At the ASID National Student Summit in Los Angeles this February, student finalists presented their portfolios to a panel of judges, where they were evaluated on conceptual thought, content of their submitted portfolio and their academic achievements. Students were selected as finalists after two rounds of online reviews and an interview.

Two SCAD students were among the eight 2018 ASID Student Portfolio Competition winners, each earning a $2,100 scholarship from the Benjamin Moore & Co. Foundation and an internship at a major design firm.

Khadeine Ali received an internship with Humanscale, a designer and manufacturer of ergonomic office furniture that improves health and comfort at work. Ali's submitted profile includes concepts for a rustic, outdoor French restaurant and theater, a boutique store and a shared studio and exhibition space.

Luke McLindon received an internship with HOK, one of the largest architecture and interior design firms in the world. His portfolio includes concepts revitalizing a 19th-century lodge and a historic building into exclusive restaurants and a design concept for the Computer Museum of America first conceived in a SCADpro collaboration.
