SCAD photography thesis exhibition earns first-place award
Two SCAD photography graduate students won honors from the Center Photography Review Santa Fe for their thesis exhibition capturing the natural environment in south Florida.
Students Charles McCullers (M.F.A. photography; M.A., photography, 2016) and Cecilia Montalvo (M.F.A. photography) documented the environmental intensity of Florida's barrier islands in their thesis Where the Light Enters. The duo used a portable darkroom and the early photographic process of wet plate collodion photography to capture scenes for the series, which opened as an exhibition at SCAD Atlanta's Trois Gallery during SCAD deFINE ART 2019.
The Center Photography Review Santa Fe is an annual conference recognizing the best work of photographers from around the globe. Held each year in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the conference is a launching pad for photographers seeking critiques from top curators and new audiences for their work.
