Reception for Wendy White exhibition: 'Loves'
Join us for a reception celebrating "Loves," an exhibition by SCAD alumna Wendy White (B.F.A., fibers, 1993) on view Feb. 20–June 8, 2018. White explores the boundaries of painting through the combination of traditional canvas surface and nontraditional materials like vinyl signs, mirrors and deconstructed denim jeans. Mining the aesthetics of the gas station chain Love's Travel Stops, she reflects on the optimism of the company's name, finding a parallel with the myth of Manifest Destiny and the optimism of the American road trip.
"Loves" is curated by Ben Tollefson, assistant curator for SCAD Exhibitions.
This exhibition is part of SCAD deFINE ART 2018, held Feb. 20-23 at university locations in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia, and Hong Kong. SCAD deFINE ART is an annual program of exhibitions, lectures, performances and public events that highlights emerging and established artists and visionaries.
Gallery hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This exhibition is free and open to the public.
