Author Jessica Handler to hold student workshop on memoir writing

Author Jessica Handler will give a student workshop on memoir writing as part of SCAD’s Ivy Hall Writers Series. Handler’s workshop “Looking Back, Moving Forward,” will explore how a memoir about grief or loss demonstrates that the writer has moved forward enough to look back and how a writer’s “back” shapes his or her “forward.”

Handler will discuss how to write about loss and ‘looking back’ on positive and negative experiences. In this workshop, participants will discuss examples from classic memoir and generate new material from writing prompts.
