Transportation


Shuttle buses
A SCAD bus system provides free regularly scheduled bus service between open university buildings and residence halls during academic quarters. This service is available to all registered SCAD students, faculty and staff. Expanded service is offered during midterms and finals. Maps and schedules for bus routes are available via MySCAD.

Public transportation
In Atlanta, MARTA operates a network of bus routes linked to a rapid transit system consisting of 48 miles of rail track with 38 train stations. MARTA operates almost exclusively in Fulton and DeKalb counties, with a single bus stop in Cobb (Cumberland Transfer Center), and a single rail station in Clayton at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Taxi service

In Savannah, Yellow Cab Taxi Service offers discounted fares for SCAD students, and accepts cash, credit cards and SCAD Cards. For more information, call 912.525.RIDE.

Bicycles

In Savannah, riding through squares and parks is prohibited.

Parking

All students, staff and faculty who park or use a vehicle on SCAD property must register their vehicles. Student parking permits are free and are validated for the academic year (fall through spring). Information about parking facilities, permits, regulations, parking tickets, vehicle registration and visitor parking passes is available via MySCAD.

Special events
  • University events may interrupt routine parking patterns. During any special event or SCAD activity, transportation and parking services will control parking lots in conjunction with SCAD security.
  • Failure to heed instructions of transportation and parking services officials will result in the issuance of a citation and possible towing.
  • All valid permits issued by the office of transportation and parking services are honored.

Atlanta parking
In Atlanta, parking is available in the parking deck to students, staff and faculty. Visitor parking is available at the north and south areas adjacent to the SCAD Atlanta building. Those who park or use a vehicle on SCAD property must adhere to safe driving practices. For security reasons, SCAD encourages students, staff, faculty and visitors not to leave items of value visible in their cars. All students, staff and faculty who park or use a vehicle on SCAD property must register their vehicles. Student parking permits are free and are validated for the academic year (fall through spring). To obtain a permit, students, faculty and staff must present a valid SCAD ID. Atlanta parking for bicycles and motorcycles
Bicycles and motorcycles are to be parked in the parking deck only. Bicycles must be secured to the bicycle racks located near the second floor parking deck entrance to the security station. Motorcycles must park in vehicle parking spaces within the deck. For more information, call security at 404.253.3472.

There are 30-minute loading and unloading zones at the following buildings: Alexander Hall, Anderson Hall, Eckburg Hall, Eichberg Hall, Hamilton Hall, Morris Hall, Oglethorpe House, Gulfstream Center for Industrial and Furniture Design, and Wallin Hall.

Convenient Jen Library parking
Park for a $2 flat rate Monday-Friday, 6 p.m.-7 a.m. at the State Street Garage.

Convenient Student Center parking
Park for a $2 flat rate Monday-Friday, 6 p.m.-7 a.m. at the Robert E. Robinson Parking Garage on Montgomery Street, across from the county courthouse.

Convenient Kiah Hall parking
Park at the Savannah Visitors Center at 301 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd for $1 per hour; the first hour is free.

Convenient Club SCAD and Oglethorpe House visitor parking

Savannah Civic Center parking is $.30 per hour Monday-Sunday (24 hours), unless there is an event. The lot is located on the corner of Liberty and Montgomery streets.

Metered parking
City meters vary in allotted time from 15 minutes to 10 hours. Some non-metered parking is available south on Bull Street toward Forsyth Park and on other nearby streets. Parking meters are free 5 p.m.-8 a.m. and on weekends (5 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Monday).
