Athletics, Fitness and Recreation

SCAD is committed to the ideal that academic pursuits should be the top priority for all student-athletes. The university competes at the intercollegiate level - as a member of the Sun Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics - in baseball, cross country, equestrian, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, softball and volleyball.

Visit the SCAD Atlanta Athletics and SCAD Savannah Athletics websites for team rosters, game schedules, scores and stats, the latest headlines, player accolades and more, including details about athletic facilities, staff directories and summer camps. Also find there interest forms for prospective student-athletes as well as links to follow the Bees on Facebook and Twitter.

SCAD was initially a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics from 1987 until 1992, before transitioning to Division III membership of the National Collegiate Athletic Association from 1992 until 2003. The SCAD Bees sent 20 teams to NCAA postseason competition between 1996 and 2003 and, during the 2001-02 season, every SCAD athletics team logged a winning record.

Before the start of the 2003-04 season, SCAD renewed its membership with the NAIA and now competes in The Sun Conference (formerly the Florida Sun Conference). In Fall 2010, SCAD Atlanta joined SCAD Savannah's award-winning teams in competing at the intercollegiate level in NAIA men's and women's cross country, golf and tennis.

In recent years, SCAD Savannah's athletic teams have been ranked among the nation's top 25 teams. SCAD Atlanta is fully prepared to uphold the outstanding legacy of SCAD athletics by recruiting talented student-artist-athletes and fielding teams in the tradition of excellence for which SCAD is best known.

SCAD had 10 different teams ranked in their respective NAIA national rankings during the 2009-10 season. The Bees had eight teams that competed at their respective national championships and three others that had individuals compete at theirs.

SCAD captured its second NAIA team title when the Bees won their second consecutive NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championship. In 2010, the equestrian program captured its sixth Affiliated National Riding Commission's National Intercollegiate Riding Championship team and individual titles. The men's and women's swimming teams have won a total of 28 individual national titles since their inception, while the equestrian program has won 21 national titles.

Each year student-artist-athletes at SCAD's Savannah location have been recognized locally, regionally and nationally for excellence in the classroom as well as in athletics competition. With the same combination of academic, artistic and athletic talent, dedicated teamwork and the guidance and experience of a remarkable coaching staff, SCAD Atlanta is poised to follow in the same tradition.
