Benefits and Resources


When you graduate from SCAD, you become a member of the university's alumni organization, which offers you a variety of benefits and the personal attention you have come to expect from SCAD. Wherever you live, you're encouraged to participate in the university's continuing growth and progress. You're also eligible for the benefits listed below.

Access to state-of-the-art facilities
You may use the Jen Library in Savannah, the Atlanta library or the Hong Kong library free of charge. As an alumnus or alumna, you may check out up to five books at a time for a two-week (14-day) period. You may not use electronic equipment for any purpose other than education.

For three months after you graduate, you may use labs and facilities at no extra charge.*
* Certain academic departments charge major-specific student usage fees. In these cases, alumni will also be charged these fees. Club SCAD and Turner House Fitness Center memberships may be purchased for $30 a month immediately after graduation. See "Fitness centers" below for more information.

Alumni organizations
Connect with other SCAD alumni in your area through one of our alumni organizations. These groups work with the alumni relations office to support you, enhance networking opportunities and promote communication.
Alumni decal
Show your pride and achievement with a SCAD alumni decal, which you receive as a graduating student.
Alumni events
The alumni relations office holds an Alumni Weekend each year during Sidewalk Arts Festival. We encourage you to join us for this Savannah event, which includes a reception for you and your guests, an alumni awards ceremony, and, of course, SCAD's chalk-drawing competition in Forsyth Park.
 
You're welcome to visit the university any other time during the year as well. Attend gallery openings and guest lectures, exhibit your work, participate in competitions, and cheer on the Bees at SCAD athletics events. Any event or program that's free for current SCAD students is also free for you when you show a valid SCAD alumni ID. Alumni ID cards
Obtain an alumni ID to enjoy these benefits:
  • Access to facilities and equipment for 90 days after graduation (certain major-specific fees may apply)
  • Access to Jen Library, SCAD Atlanta library and SCAD Hong Kong library with limited privileges
  • Discounts at Ex-Libris and SCAD Atlanta's Bookstore (certain restrictions apply)
  • Discount on monthly Club-SCAD/Turner House Fitness Center membership 
  • Access to any event or program that's free to current students
Career resources
SCAD's office for career and alumni success assists you in finding job and internship opportunities. Among the resources available to you are College Central Network, an online database with employment listings for students and alumni, and free workshops on interviews, resumes, cover letters and more. Fitness centers
Club SCAD and the Turner House Fitness Center—both in Savannah—offer health and fitness consultations, a variety of equipment and classes. As an alumnus or alumna, you may purchase a Club SCAD membership, which provides unlimited access to both facilities, for $30 per month. Call 912.525.6001 for more information.
Bookstore discounts
With your valid SCAD alumni ID, you receive a 10 percent discount on clothing and gift merchandise at Ex Libris in Savannah and SCAD Atlanta's bookstore. (The discount excludes supplies, textbooks and software.)
SCAD and ACA alumni scholarships
Scholarships of $250 (USD) per course, with a maximum of $3,000 (USD) per year, are awarded to SCAD and ACA alumni who apply and are accepted to any undergraduate or graduate program. Alumni also may qualify for additional scholarships and financial aid. The application fee and enrollment fee are waived for SCAD and ACA alumni accepted into a SCAD degree program, and their SCAD transcripts may be requested by admission at no charge.
Invitations to regional alumni gatherings
Each year, SCAD faculty and staff visit with alumni in various cities and hold receptions. If you're interested in organizing events in your area, e-mail alumni relations.
