Built in the early 1900s, this 44,000-square-feet former warehouse is home to the furniture design, industrial design, service design, design management and design for sustainability programs. The exterior bas-relief brick wall, which references the SCAD Bee mascot and low-country foliage, was created by students under the direction of sculpture professor Yves Paquette.

Since SCAD acquired the building in 2002, it has been reconstructed to include studio space, a spray booth for painting models, a welding facility, plastics-working area, bench rooms, industrial design and furniture design galleries, and an extensive woodworking and metal fabrication studio, among many other state-of-the-art features. Students in each of the design tracks embark on classes that emphasize creation and representation skills, planning and methodology, fabrication, and transformation from concept to practical application and use.

Careers as contract or residential furniture designers, package designers, toy designers, transportation designers, experience designers, design center managers, product developers and many others await students who successfully complete these courses of study.
