LOCATIONS AND FACILITIES
Jen Library
Formerly the Maas Brothers department store, this 85,000-square-foot building was renovated to serve as the Savannah College of Art and Design library. A monumental glass staircase is central to the design, and floor-to-ceiling windows located at each end of the building allow sunlight to brighten comfortable, informal study areas on all three floors. Located within the Jen Library, the Writers' Studio offers students, faculty and staff individualized and small-group assistance with aspects of the writing process, including prewriting strategies, structuring ideas, developing thesis statements and formulating cover letters, as well as other projects. Its central aim is to help students become confident and independent writers. This student-led approach gives students the opportunity to think about and discuss their writing with consultants. The Jen Library is also home to faculty development, the Gutstein Gallery and the Visual Resources Center, home to a collection of 335,000 slides and more than 28,000 digital images.
