Micah and Whitney Stansell
Whitney Stansell (M.F.A., painting, 2008) and her husband Micah are frequent collaborators who live and work in College Park, Georgia. Their body of work ranges from fibers, sculpture, painting and drawing to single and multichannel film and video works, as well as installations. The Stansells’ work often explores ideas of family history, narrative traditions and binary relationships that pull from contemporary issues influenced and informed by environment and location. Much of their interest in narrative stems from the rich Southern tradition of storytelling.
Exhibiting in galleries, museums, contemporary art centers and film festivals, the Stansells’ work has been featured in cities around the world including Beijing; Vienna; Miami, Florida; New York; Los Angeles, California; and Atlanta, Georgia.
