A full university experience—SCAD facilities include classrooms, galleries, residence halls, computer labs, the
ACA Library of SCAD, a dining hall, a student lounge, a fitness center, a swimming pool, an acclaimed sculpture studio, and the historic
Ivy Hall writing center.
A vibrant and diverse environment—SCAD is located in the center of a fast-paced, major metropolitan marketplace with more than 100 art galleries and 1,000 international businesses. Students have abundant opportunities to excel in their chosen programs.
Advanced technology and equipment—Specialized educational resources facilitate research and build knowledge. In every department and program, SCAD students work with advanced, professional-level technology, equipment and resources. For example, SCAD's new 60,000-square-foot digital media center will offer industry-standard learning resources such as multi-camera sound stages with high-definition broadcast capability, professional sound recording and mixing suites, editing rooms, a screening room, nearly two dozen classrooms, and set and prop fabrication studios.
Relationships with many Fortune 500 and other leading companies headquartered in Atlanta—Students intern at such firms as Coca-Cola, Delta Air Lines and Turner Broadcasting, while class projects and business partnerships strengthen the connection between the university and the metropolitan community.
Comprehensive career services focused on student success—SCAD students and alumni benefit from an extensive array of
career services. Career advisers provide individual guidance about course options, résumés, portfolios, interviews and job-search strategies. Workshops and classes cover entrepreneurship, branding, salary negotiation, socially responsible careers and more.
Dynamic learning environment—SCAD provides the learning environment creative students need to flourish. Full-time SCAD students take three classes per quarter. This tightly focused schedule enables students to acquire the knowledge and master the skills required to advance in their chosen field. All classes are small—with a student/faculty ratio of 16:1. Traditional classes meet for two-and-a-half hours twice a week for lectures and individual or group work. Fridays are open for studio time or collaboration outside class with students and faculty.
Interaction with iconic professionals—In every major, SCAD provides interaction between SCAD students and
luminaries in their fields. Lectures, workshops and field trips allow students to connect with professionals who share insight and critique student work.
Off-campus programs—
SCAD off-campus programs enhance the total educational experience. Students earn degree credit while gaining a more global perspective on art, architecture and design. Recent destinations have included Australia, China, Japan, London, Los Angeles and New York City.
Access to the rich culture of Provence—Students may spend part of their education in
Lacoste, a beautifully preserved medieval village known for its extraordinary light and exquisite pastoral setting. Lacoste facilities include teaching studios dedicated to painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography and digital imaging.
