'Guests and Gusto' with Jeffrey Gibson

In this Guests and Gusto, multidisciplinary artist Jeffrey Gibson presents recent work and discusses how his studio has responded to the pandemic. He is joined by his studio managers, SCAD alumni Kirby Crone (M.F.A., painting, 2015) and Bill Singer (M.F.A., painting, 2013).

In his paintings, sculptures, and performances, Gibson — a half-Cherokee member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians — merges elements of geometric abstraction, Minimalism, and the mid-1970s Pattern and Decoration movement with Indigenous iconography, including powwow regalia, intricate beading, trade blankets, and stretched elk hide.
