Maintaining OPT

Optional practical training (OPT) is one type of work permission available for eligible F-1 students. This program gives students real-world work experience related to their field of study.

After students are approved, they will be invited to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) portal where they must maintain reporting requirements.

STEM-eligible OPT

OPT work authorization may be obtained for 12 months after the completion of any SCAD degree program. Students who graduate with a STEM degree may be eligible for an additional 24 months of work authorization.

If you are interested in an H1B work visa, keep in mind the U.S. government caps the number of visas granted each year. Visit USCIS.gov for details.
