Submit work Feb. 7 for 2014 Foundation Studies Portfolio Award Exhibition

The purpose of this annual exhibition is to acknowledge and recognize outstanding student work in the foundation studies program. An exemplary portfolio would include some combination of design (2-D, 3-D, color theory) and drawing.
Any undergraduate student who has not accumulated more than 71 credit hours and has completed, or is currently enrolled, in at least one foundation studies class at SCAD.
- Five original pieces of artwork completed while attending SCAD. Two-dimensional work must be originals and contained in a portfolio. Three-dimensional work may be submitted with clearly labeled photographs or in digital form with information indicating size and media. Three-dimensional work must be readily available for exhibition if selected. Each work submitted must be labeled with the student’s name, email, phone number, foundation studies class in which the work was produced, and the class professor.
- Typed, one-page, double-spaced statement titled "Why Foundation Studies is Important to My Education." This statement should be submitted in hard copy and digitally as an attached document via email.
- Completed entry form available on the dates of submission.
- Unofficial transcript accessible via MySCAD.
Awards and prizes
The 10 finalists will receive a $100 Ex Libris voucher. One finalist will be selected as the overall winner and will receive a tuition scholarship for one class for a subsequent quarter at SCAD.
Additionally, the finalists may also have the opportunity to receive Purchase Awards from the foundation studies department for the department’s permanent collection. To be eligible for a Purchase Award, the student will need to indicate on the entry form that the work may be considered for Purchase Awards.
GPA will be taken into account during the evaluation process.
