David Elliott Lecture: 'Art as a Virus: Patterns of Production, Transmission and Reception in Art'
601 Turner Blvd.
David Elliott is a former director of contemporary art museums in Oxford, England, and Stockholm, and curator of the Istanbul Biennial (2007), Sydney Biennale (2010) and Kiev Biennale (2012). The lecturer studies the production and reception of art in a historical and contemporary context, analyzing the spread of art like a "virus" among various cultures. Elliott critiques the ideology of the classic European universalism of the Enlightenment and modern globalization.
