SCAD 2017 Commencement in Hong Kong
The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong
International Commerce Centre, 1 Austin Road West
Join us as we honor and celebrate the Class of 2017 during commencement.
The Presidential Conferment of Degrees ceremony begins at 12 p.m. and will honor all graduating students, followed by a reception on the level-three foyer of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong.
Because of limited seating in the Diamond Ballroom, tickets are required for all guests and must be picked up by the participating student in advance of the ceremony. Visit the MySCAD graduation channel for more information.
We have implemented the following policy to ensure the comfort of all our guests during the commencement ceremony. Large bags, including backpacks, suitcases, large camera bags and large purses, are not allowed in the venue.
Handicapped-accessible seating is available for guests who require special accommodations. Because seating is limited, only one person may accompany the individual in the designated area, and special seating tickets are required.
Email the events department at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 852.2253.8181 for disability seating requests. All requests must be submitted by Friday, May 5, and any special seating tickets requested by the graduating student will be counted toward the total number of tickets allotted to that student.
Parking is available for guests at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, and the Elements Car Park at 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon. Both areas are in close proximity to the venue. Rates are approximately HK$15–85 per hour.

What do I need to do to be considered for graduation?
All students should apply for graduation two quarters prior to the expected completion of their degree. Students must complete an application online through MySCAD.
Whom do I contact if I have questions about my eligibility to graduate?
For questions regarding your graduation audit, eligibility to graduate or eligibility to participate in the ceremony, speak to your graduation auditor. Use your SCAD email account for all correspondence.
Is there a meeting before the ceremony that participating graduates must attend?
Yes. There will be a graduation planning meeting 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13, or Friday, April 14, at the SCAD Hong Kong courtroom. Attendance is mandatory for students who wish to participate in the ceremony. Cap and gown orders will be placed at this time and additional information will be provided on the number of tickets to be issued to each participant.
There is also a mandatory graduation rehearsal 2 p.m., Friday, June 9, at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong.
Do I still need to apply if I will not participate in the ceremony?
Yes. Any student who wants to have his or her degree awarded must apply to graduate. If you decide not to participate in the commencement ceremony, contact your graduation auditor immediately.
Note: “Graduation” and “graduating” are not the same. “Graduating” means that a student has completed all program requirements and thus may receive a diploma. “Graduation” often refers to the commencement ceremony; this is a ceremony only and is the day when students are acknowledged and have the ceremonial conferment of their degree. No diplomas are handed out at this event.
How do I get tickets?
Because of limited seating in the venue, graduates are allotted a set number of tickets for the ceremony. Commencement tickets may be picked up by the graduating student 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., May 29–June 8, in the office of student success, Room 113. You must show your SCAD Card to pick up tickets.
Visit the graduation channel on MySCAD for more information.
How will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas will be mailed to graduates at their diploma mailing address. Graduates should confirm their diploma address on their graduation application. Diplomas will be mailed six to eight weeks after the graduation ceremony.
Will I get my picture taken at the commencement ceremony?
Information about ordering photographs of the ceremony will be delivered at the graduation participation meeting in April.
How do I order my cap and gown?
Information about ordering your cap and gown will be provided at the graduation planning meeting 1:30 pm, Thursday, April 13, or Friday, April 14. The deadline to order your cap and gown is Monday, May 1.
Can I bring my cellphone, camera, purse or bag, or food and drinks to the ceremony?
