Each spring, Family and Alumni Weekend offers three fun-filled days of events and opportunities for families of current students to visit Savannah, and for alumni to reconnect with former classmates at SCAD.

The weekend's highlight is the 36th annual Sidewalk Arts Festival, a SCAD signature event that invites students and alumni to create temporary chalk art masterpieces on the sidewalks of scenic Forsyth Park.

Experience the premier exhibitions on display. Admission is free for registered families throughout the weekend.

Family picnic and meet and greet
5–7 p.m.
SCAD Museum of Art ruins
Mingle with university staff and other SCAD families during a casual picnic dinner.

Improv comedy performance
7:30 p.m.
Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St.
See the national award-winning SCAD improv group, The Mobb Line, perform. All students, alumni and their families are invited to attend.

Tour this open studio, meet Alumni Atelier ambassadors and explore Forsyth House, which provides living quarters and studio spaces for the ambassadors.

Sidewalk Arts Festival
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Forsyth Park
Enjoy festival activities and watch as chalk masterpieces emerge from the sidewalks. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m. This year's festival includes food, music and student performances.

Lunch (optional)
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Forsyth Park
Enjoy delectable fare from various restaurant stations in the park. (Student meal plans are not valid with Sidewalk Arts Festival vendors.)

Alumni recognition and film screening
7–10 p.m.
Trustees Theater

Join us in honoring the university's outstanding alumni, followed by a screening of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," which SCAD alumni helped create. A SCAD alumnus who contributed to the film will share behind-the-scenes insights into its production. All students, alumni and their families are invited to attend.

Distinguished Alumni Award
This award recognizes exemplary SCAD ambassadors based on outstanding professional achievement. These alumni make significant contributions as leaders in their respective industries. Strong consideration is given to those who have served SCAD through mentoring, lecturing, recruiting prospective students or connecting students to industry opportunities.

Distinguished Alumnus: Greg Jacobs (B.F.A., historic preservation, 1997), founder of Landmark Preservation, Savannah, Georgia
Distinguished Alumnus: Jesse Hildreth (B.F.A., visual effects, 2008), senior technical director at Industrial Light and Magic, Vancouver, Canada

Emerging Alumni Award
This award recognizes exemplary SCAD ambassadors based on remarkable accomplishments early in their professional careers. These alumni demonstrate strong potential to make significant contributions.

Emerging Alumna: Osayi Endolyn (M.F.A., writing, 2014), senior writer at IBM and associate editor at Southern Foodways Alliance, Gainesville, Florida
