Reception for Jeff Rich and Sue Williamson exhibitions
1600 Peachtree St. NW
Join us for a reception celebrating photography exhibitions “Watershed: The Tennessee River” by Jeff Rich and “Other Voices, Other Cities” by Sue Williamson, on view Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, through Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Trois Gallery and Gallery 1600, respectively. Both exhibitions offer engaging examinations of mankind’s relation to the places in which we live.
Rich’s photography focuses on water issues ranging from recreation and sustainability to exploitation and abuse by documenting specific regions of the U.S. over a long period of time. And Williamson — who hails from Cape Town, South Africa — has used her artwork to engage with social issues since the days of apartheid, often bringing the voices of those who would otherwise have gone unrecorded into public notice. Her work has highlighted such atrocities as state-ordered demolitions, the AIDS pandemic and xenophobia.
These exhibitions and reception coincide with the annual Atlanta Celebrates Photography festival and are organized by Storm Janse van Rensburg, SCAD head curator of exhibitions.
Gallery hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The reception and exhibitions are free and open to the public.
