Reception for Giordano Angeletti exhibition: ‘Reveries and Other Fantasies'
1 N. Fahm St.
This series of photographs by M.F.A. photography student Giordano Angeletti sets idealized architectural miniatures against Southern vernacular architecture. They refer to ideas of place, belonging, refuge, escape and fantasy. These spaces are reveries tinged with nostalgia and wistfulness for what never was; illusions that seek and hope to become real.
When viewed together, these images form a narrative, an exploration of a space. They present the viewer with inhabited landscapes devoid of human figures but full of their traces. As the environment is discovered and glimpsed through windows and doors, it becomes knowable but no less wondrous. These fictional landscapes are anchored to a determined place; they dwell in a recognizable geography, a romanticized American South.
Gallery hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
