SCAD plans sports camps The athletics department will conduct summer camps in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Led by the head coaches of SCADs athletic teams, SCAD sports camps introduce participants to their chosen sports, focusing on fundamentals while sharpening skills in a positive manner. Each participant receives a SCAD summer camp T-shirt. For more information or to register, please contact Michelle Willis at 525-4811 or visit http://www.scad.edu/camps/. New time sheet policy Salaried staff members are no longer required to complete semimonthly time sheets. All time off, excluding standard SCAD holidays, should be reported to supervisors using the new semimonthly leave request forms, located on the SCAD Web site at www.scad.edu/forms. Supervisors will forward the approved forms to the assistant to the vice president of their areas. For more information about this new process, contact the office of human resources at 525-5540, e-mail lpetain@scad.edu, or payroll at 525-6160, e-mail sgarris@scad.edu. Please note: Hourly employees should continue to complete biweekly timesheets as usual. Computer training courses to be offered Updated schedules for the June computer training sessions are now available. Please remember that prior registration, as well as approval of the participants immediate supervisor, is required for available sessions. Staff and faculty who have not attended a new employee orientation or would like a refresher can sign up now. Sessions are offered June 14 and June 28. To register, contact training@scad.edu. Due to a limited number of seats, prior registration is required for all training sessions. Check requests need Banner ID When requesting a check from purchasing for a faculty or staff member, or for a student, write the individuals full name and Banner ID number on the purchase requisition form. This practice helps alleviate an increasing problem of checks being cut to the wrong individuals, due to duplicate and similar names. Purchase requisitions received without this information will be returned to the original requestors for completion. Not ruff to submit work SCAD students, staff, faculty and alumni can submit work for an upcoming exhibition titled "Dog Days of Summer." The exhibition celebrates the charm inherent to the canine species. Submit slides or digital images, along with a résumé and price list, to Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St., by June 5. Call 525-4735 for more information. Call for entries available online The "In Response" prospectus and submission entry form are now available online at www.scad.edu/inresponse/. The deadline is June 30. Put your course online The SCAD Advanced Instructional Media Center is offering training to faculty interested in supplementing their courses with online material and information. Classes will meet three times during the summer quarter, and faculty will receive the use of laptop computers in exchange for their participation. Benefits include the ability to create quizzes, discussion boards and live chats, as well as present course documents, handouts, streaming video, portfolios and audio online. For more information, contact Alina Czerwinski at aczerwin@scad.edu or 525-4001. Instructors needed for first-year seminar Instructors are needed to teach first-year seminar in the fall.
