10 a.m.

  • Chalk distribution begins

11 a.m.

  • Pick up your chalk by 11 a.m. at the distribution tent and begin drawing.
  • Unclaimed squares will be released if participants are not checked in by 11 a.m.
  • You will be given a map to locate your square.
  • You are encouraged to begin on time to ensure quality work.

Explore "Wheel," an interactive installation of hand-dyed silk panels that form a life-size color wheel, 30 feet in diameter, by SCAD alumna Gretchen Wagner (B.F.A., fibers, 2011).

In this installation, "Wheel" includes live performances of music and poetry by SCAD students and alumni until 3:30 p.m.

1 p.m.

  • Judging commences

3 p.m.

  • Judging concludes
  • "Wheel" artist Gretchen Wagner will discuss her work at the installation.

3:30 p.m.

  • Puppet parade

4 p.m. (approximately)

  • Results are announced

Parking and accommodations

Metered parking is available throughout downtown and parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays. For those interested in spending the weekend in Savannah, SCAD has compiled a selection of hotels which may offer discounts to SCAD guests who identify as such when making reservations.

After the competition

After snapping photos of your favorite sidewalk chalk art and tagging your posts with #SCADCHALK, find a spot on the lawn to enjoy good food and live music.
