What services does the Writing Center offer for SCAD-eLearning students? Through online consultations, the Writing Center provides SCAD-eLearning students with the same assistance available to the entire SCAD community. The aim of the Writing Center is to help students become more confident and independent writers by taking a student-led approach in consultations. How do online consultations work for SCAD-eLearning students? Students requesting assistance may contact Writing Center consultants. Along with identifying themselves as SCAD-eLearning students, the e-mail should include the following information:
What resources are available online for SCAD-eLearning students? The Writing Center's Web site has many writing-related resources plus handouts in PDF format that can be downloaded and printed. Reference How do I get reference help? To get reference assistance:
How many items can I check out and what is the loan period? Undergraduate students may check out a maximum of 10 circulating items for 14 days. Graduate students may check out a maximum of 20 circulating items for 30 days. What can I request and how do I request it? Anything that normally circulates outside the library may be requested. To request items, fill out the Interlibrary Loan Request form or e-mail a list to the interlibrary loan coordinator at illscad@scad.edu. What does it cost? There is no cost to the borrower. When receiving books from the Jen Library via mail, the borrower will receive inside the package a self-addressed stamped envelope for mailing the book(s) back. The borrower is responsible for the books until they are received back at the library. If I am registered as an SCAD-eLearning student, can I come into the Jen Library and check items out? Yes, so long as you have a valid SCAD ID with you. Do SCAD-eLearning students have access to reserve materials? SCAD-eLearning students have online access to electronic course reserve materials through the WebOPAC. Other reserve items, which are not available electronically, must be used in the library. What about materials that do not circulate outside of the library, such as periodicals? The library will be happy to photocopy articles from periodicals or entries in reference books if they are needed. In addition, the library has created links in the online catalog for journals that have online content.
