Dee Poon is the creative force behind the bespoke men’s shirt brand PYE, creating the men’s equivalent to the little black dress: the perfectly tailored crisp white dress shirt.
Before Poon set out to revitalize PYE, she was head of retailing at Esquel, PYE’s parent company. Her re-imagining of PYE began in 2013, when new, simplistic and sleek retail stores, designed by renowned Taiwanese architect Ray Chen, opened in Hong Kong and Shanghai, offering a dozen styles of ready-made white shirts.
A frequent presence on best-dressed lists in Asia and around the world, Poon is Hong Kong fashion royalty, the daughter of Dickson Poon, the owner of luxury retailer Harvey Nichols, and Marjorie Yang, the chairperson at Esquel.
Poon serves on the boards of the Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design, Zuni Icosahedron and the Esquel – Y.L. Yang Education Foundation, as well as on the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Design, Marketing and Licensing Services advisory committee. She is an editor-at-large for iLook magazine and a featured columnist for Modern Weekly.
She graduated from Harvard University in 2004, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. Poon is a native and current resident of Hong Kong.
