President, Kering Asia-Pacific
Mimi Tang has more than 25 years of experience in luxury retail. She joined Kering, a world leader in apparel and accessories, in 1998 as the company’s president in China and Hong Kong. In her current role, she oversees a portfolio of brands, including Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Yves Saint Laurent, and has played an integral role in guiding Kering’s expansion strategies in the profitable Asian markets.
Tang started her career at age 17, working as a buying assistant and merchandiser for DFS Galleria in Hong Kong. In 1985 she joined luxury retailer Joyce and oversaw the retailer’s Asia-Pacific merchandising and operations for more than a decade. In 1996, Tang was named executive vice president of HPL-21 Limited, a licensing and franchising company that oversaw the retail infrastructure for Donna Karan, DKNY and Armani Exchange in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
Tang is a founding member and current board member of the Kering Foundation, a corporate project launched in 2009 to help provide aid and support to vulnerable women.
