Mayer Rus is West Coast editor of Architectural Digest, where he is responsible for tracking the work of established designers and emerging talents. During his career, he has crusaded for greater public awareness of design by reinforcing links between the design world and broader movements in business, politics, popular culture and the arts, which has developed his reputation as both a fierce critic and ardent supporter of young design talent.
Prior to joining Architectural Digest, Rus was the design and culture editor of Los Angeles Times Magazine. He has served as design editor of Conde Nast House & Garden, where he penned the publication’s popular Testy Tastemaker column, and as editor-in-chief of Interior Design magazine. A celebrated design arbiter, Rus has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Elle Décor, Vogue, Artforum and W, and has contributed essays to recent monographs on the work of design firm Atelier AM, photographer Francois Halard and designer James Magni.
Rus resides in the Silver Lake enclave of Los Angeles, California, with his dog Linus.
