Chairman, Tom Ford International
Honorary chair, SCAD Style 2014
Domenico De Sole is chairman of Tom Ford International, a role he has held since the company was founded in April 2005.
De Sole and Ford met while the two were at Gucci, where their shared vision for the storied luxury brand would become one of fashion’s greatest success stories. As president and CEO of Gucci Group and chairman of the group’s management board, De Sole guided the brand from near bankruptcy, playing an instrumental role in building the Gucci Group and re-establishing the exclusivity and profitability of the Gucci brand. He presided over the Gucci Group’s acquisitions of numerous luxury brands, including Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Boucheron, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga.
Before taking the helm at Gucci Group, he was CEO of Gucci America and a partner at the Washington, D.C.-based international law firm of Patton Boggs. De Sole serves on the boards of Gap Inc., Sotheby’s, Bausch & Lomb, Newell Rubbermaid and Ermenegildo Zegna, and the advisory board of his alma mater, Harvard Law School.
He and his wife Eleanore are residents of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. An ardent patron of the arts, De Sole bears the distinction of serving as the honorary chair for SCAD Style 2014, the first in the event’s history.
