This year, the SCAD Challenge junior competition's new wild card category expanded eligible entries to include any work of art, design or writing from any creative discipline. Entrants responded to this call to action with ingenuity, submitting a range of creative works that spanned disciplines as varied as fashion design, sculpture, game design, filmmaking and product design. From among these diverse entries, the SCAD Challenge mentors selected 16 finalists whose work demonstrated originality, polished technical skills within the chosen medium, and creativity in the face of an open-ended challenge.

The panel of faculty judges examined the work of these finalists and chose the three entrants whose work best demonstrated that they were likely to benefit from and thrive in a SCAD pre-college program. These three winners will be awarded a scholarship to attend either SCAD Summer Seminars or Pre-college: Rising Star.
