Biography

Gonkar Gyatso (b. 1961, Lhasa, Tibet) is a London-based transnational artist. In 2003, he founded the Sweet Tea House in London, dedicated to promoting contemporary Tibetan art and bringing together artists from inside Tibet and from abroad.

Education

Gyatso was trained in traditional brush painting at the Central University for Nationalities in Beijing as well as traditional Tibetan thangka painting in Dharamsala, India. He earned an M.A. in fine art at the Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London.
