Printmakers, as artists of the 21st century, have extensive possibilities to contribute to a wide range of professions related to the discipline. Graphic design, fibers, painting, photography, film and other disciplines are closely linked to this tradition.
In the SCAD printmaking program, critical thinking, interdisciplinary study and applications of technology are balanced with traditional and contemporary printmaking practices.

Media-specific courses include etching, lithography, relief printmaking and serigraphy, as well as photographic computer applications for printmaking.
Studios, equipment and computer labs are provided for beginning-, intermediate- and advanced-level courses in lithography, monotype, etching, letterpress, book arts, and processes that incorporate photo application such as photogravure, photo lithography and serigraphy. SCAD printmaking facilities specialize in low toxicity and nontoxic techniques.
Through the Southeastern Center for Printmaking, SCAD students have the opportunity to collaborate with visiting artists and work alongside faculty to learn the art of collaborative printmaking. Past guests include Chakaia Booker, Kael Alford, Alexi Natchev, Glenn Vilppu, Marshall Arisman, Jeffrey Sippel and Arthur Secunda.
