The SCAD painting department has operated the New York City Workspace Opportunity in Manhattan since Summer 2001. Every quarter, a painting student is selected to work in a studio space near Times Square.

Eligibility
- To apply, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a declared painting major enrolled at SCAD for the stated academic term
- Be in good academic standing
- Be age 21 or older
- Be a graduate-level (minimum 30 credit hours completed) or advanced undergraduate-level (minimum 120 credit hours completed with at least 30 credit hours completed at SCAD)
Apply
In February each year applications are emailed to all junior, senior and graduate students. Those meeting the eligibility requirements are welcome to apply. Completed applications should be submitted to the painting department administrative office at Alexander Hall. Include application form, project proposal, 10-20 digital images of work related to the project proposal, résumé and current unofficial college transcript or CAPP.
