The 15th annual Savannah Film Festival was a resounding success. The festival honored elite performers and featured special screenings and more than 30 competition films.

SAVANNAH, Georgia - The 15th annual Savannah Film Festival, presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design, is pleased to announce this year's competition awards winners. Ranging from emerging student filmmakers to distinguished professionals, the festival recognized winners with more than $80,000 in cash and prizes. The 30 competition films were selected from more than 1,000 entries and came from countries around the globe, including Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The festival's notable jurors included industry professionals Chris Betts, Marc Frydman, Chuck Lomis, Alex McArthur, Linda Olszewski and Claudia Puig. This year's student judges were Liselle Feingold, Robert Orr and Stephen Wong.
The award winners are as follows:
Student Competition Film Awards
- Student bumper contest: Rick Kuan and Drake Ruth
- Best SCAD Student Film Award: "12:15 Sunday," director Taylor Jenkins
- Special Jury Award: "Love Hacking," director, producer Jenni Nelson
- Panavision Best Student Cinematographer Award: "Caves: The Social Underground," cinematographer Luke McMahon
- Panavision Professional and Educational Cinematography Award: SCAD cinematography professor Michael Hofstein
Professional Competition Film Awards
- AVID Best Editing: "Trotteur," editor Isabelle Malenfant, directors Arnaud Brisebois and Francis Leclerc
- Best Dramatic Short: "Buzkashi Boys," director Sam French
- Best Documentary: "Gregory Crewdson: Brief Encounters," director and producer Ben Shapiro
- Best Narrative Feature: "Fort McCoy," director, producer, writer Kate Connor
- Best Director: "when you find me," director Bryce Dallas Howard
- Special Jury Award for the Best Ensemble Cast: "Friend Request Pending," director Chris Foggin
- Best Animated Film: "It's Such a Beautiful Day," director, producer, writer Don Hertzfeldt
- 2012 HBO Films Producer Award: "Sweet Dreams," director, producers Lisa Fruchtman and Rob Fruchtman
