SAVANNAH, Georgia - SCAD's department of performing arts will open their 2011-12 season with IMPROV!, an improvisation and sketch comedy show featuring SCAD students. The troupe performs Oct. 13-16 at 8 p.m. with a matinee, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. at the Mondanaro Theatre, 217 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

IMPROV! is being directed by Professor David Storck, former artistic director at Gotham City Improv in New York. "This is the theatrical equivalent of flying without a net," says Storck. "There is no script - the performers make it up as they go along. What they create will be based upon suggestions taken from the audience. They will combine the suggestions with whatever their imaginations conjure and follow these on a journey whose path and destination are unknown. Anything can happen. And no two shows will be the same."

Last year, SCAD launched its new improv track, a series of classes designed to hone the student's ability to think and perform on his or her feet.

Tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 with a valid SCAD ID; and free with valid SCAD ID on Oct. 13 only. To reserve tickets and for more information, call 912.525.5050.
