HONG KONG - Creativity, innovation, imagination: Students from Hong Kong and Macau are full of ideas and enthusiasm for the arts, and now they have an opportunity to share their talents through the area's newest art and design competition,
Next Generation Art Competition 2012.

Hong Kong Society for Education in Art, Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture's
Make a Difference, and SCAD, The University for Creative CareersĀ®, the competition seeks to encourage and recognize the best in art and design talent among today's creative youth. It is open to all senior secondary students (F4-7) in Hong Kong and Macau.
Students are invited to submit one unique work to one, two or all three categories:
- Drawing or painting (any traditional, non-digital 2-D medium is accepted)
- Photography (digital accepted)
- Animation or film (2-D, 3-D, stop-motion animation and original live-action short films of no more than four minutes are accepted)
Winning entries will combine excellent technical execution with conceptual depth and originality.
Winners will be honored at an award ceremony and have their work featured in an exhibition at SCAD Hong Kong's Moot Gallery in April 2012. Winners also will receive gift cards to Artland valued at HK $700 - $2,000 and scholarship awards of varying amounts to one SCAD Hong Kong Summer 2012 workshop course.
The two week-long foundation summer workshops will be taught by SCAD professors in English. Workshops will include demonstrations, lectures, studio work and local field trips, and participants will have access to the university's facilities, resources and libraries.

Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design
Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design is a non-profit organization and registered charity founded in 2006 as a sister organization to the Hong Kong Design Centre. Believing that societies grow and are enlivened through cultural and creative experiences, HKAoD came together to promote design, creativity and local culture through dynamic, experiential, and educational events and projects in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Society for Education in Art
Since its establishment in 1992, the
Hong Kong Society for Education in Art, a not-for-profit charity organization, has been making continuous progress in its work. The activities organized by the Association are aimed primarily at promoting art education. Such activities include art education workshops, visits, topical talks, exhibitions, international interface on art education methodology, international art education panel discussions, among others. The Association's publication 'Hong Kong Art Education' is currently the only periodical journal for art education professionals. It is available free of charge to art teachers, arts administrators, public libraries and other education professionals. Members of the Association are mainly art teachers of secondary schools and tertiary institutes, and arts administrators. At the end of 2011, the Association had more than 1,700 members.

Make a Difference believes passionately that young people have enormous power to make a difference. Evolving around creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation and discovery, MaD is a Hong Kong-based platform devoted to inspiring and empowering youngsters (aged 16-30) all over Asia to create positive personal, economic, social and environmental change.
