SCAD champions creative education at HKTDC Education & Careers Expo

Course offerings prepare students for professional careers in global creative industry

HONG KONG - SCAD, the university for creative careers, will have a strong presence at this year's Hong Kong Trade Development Council Education & Careers Expo Feb. 17-20 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. As the only university in Hong Kong to focus exclusively on art and design, SCAD is exhibiting at the Creative Education Zone and will offer information on how the university prepares talented students for professional, creative careers.

SCAD Hong Kong professor and noted photographer and curator Steve Aishman also will present a talk on "Creative Careers in Photography," explaining the numerous options available to students wanting to pursue professional careers in this field. The presentation will take place 2-2:30 p.m. Feb. 18 in the Seminar Room, Hall 1E at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Aishman has shown work in nearly 100 juried solo and group exhibitions across the United States and South America. He also has curated multiple photography exhibitions in New York City; Boston, Massachusetts; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Lacoste, France. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Boston Center for the Arts, the Houston, Texas, Museum of Fine Arts, and the Dorrego Art Center in Dorrego, Argentina, among others. Prior to joining SCAD, Aishman taught at Tufts University, Harvard University and Massachusetts College of Art. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in astrophysics from Princeton University and a master of fine arts degree in photography from Tufts University.

SCAD Hong Kong admission representatives will be on hand at Expo booth ID-B02 to discuss university course offerings and career preparation. SCAD is currently accepting applications for admission to SCAD Hong Kong and the university's other locations in the United States. Courses of study at SCAD Hong Kong focus on digital media and include advertising, animation, graphic design, illustration, interactive design and game development, motion media design, photography and visual effects.
