SAVANNAH, Ga.—Three SCAD performing arts students—Christy Clark, George Hamilton IV and Jake Mullen—will perform in the finals of the 2010 Georgia Campus Superstar contest, Tuesday, March 16, at Center Stage Atlanta, 1374 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta, Ga.

Georgia Campus Superstar is an annual “American Idol”-like contest to name the best college singer enrolled in a Georgia university. Finalists perform in front of industry judges in the hopes of being crowned Campus Superstar and winning a $5,000 prize.

More than 150 students auditioned from 26 colleges throughout Georgia, among them Georgia Tech, Emory, University of Georgia, Georgia State, Spellman and SCAD. Those performers were cut to 16 for the semi-finals and then whittled down to the eight finalists chosen to compete at the final show. Of those eight finalists, three are from SCAD.

Christy Allen Clark is a senior performing arts major who made her third SCAD mainstage appearance in last year’s “Intimate Apparel" after previous roles in "Beehive" and "Violet.” Last year, she was featured in the world premiere of the gospel version of "Jesus Christ Superstar" at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.

George Hamilton IV is a junior performing arts major. He has been featured in the SCAD mainstage production of "Intimate Apparel" and "Carousel.” Hamilton is a third-year member of the SCAD Honeybees and previously won an Amateur Night on "Showtime at the Apollo."

Jake Mullen is a junior performing arts major and music performance minor. Previous SCAD mainstage credits include roles in "A New Brain," "Carousel,” "The Mexican Play" and "Oliver Twist.“ Mullen is a third-year member of the SCAD Performance Ensemble.
