NEW YORK — The Savannah College of Art and Design announces its second partnership with Metropolitan Home’s Showtime House, powered by Time Warner Cable, at New York’s prestigious Tribeca Summit, Sept. 12-Oct. 18. Inspired by Showtime’s original series, the house also will debut the Premiere Collection 2009, the second partnership between Showtime and Working Class Studio, the university’s product development venture of SCAD that cultivates and promotes the work of talented student, alumni and faculty artists.

The Premiere Collection 2009 includes more than 40 products that are showcased in the home to celebrate Showtime’s Fall 2009 season. Home décor items range from advertising design alumna Brittany May’s (B.F.A., 2009) colorful “Pill-oh!” accent pillows bearing a capsule repeat that reflects Nurse Jackie’s penchant for pharmaceuticals to “Heads of State” coasters that whimsically depict the fate of Henry VIII’s six not-so-merry wives designed by illustration M.F.A. candidate Prabha Mallya. Other designs include:
  • Chelsea Hall’s (undergraduate graphic design student) “A Rose by Any Other Name” pillow, alluding to the regal excesses and liberties of “The Tudors”
  • Megan Ave’ Lallemant’s (B.F.A., illustration, 2009) dangerous bassinette scene on the “Daddy’s Little Monster” mug, heralding Dexter Morgan’s new addition (this one living)
  • Josh Kopeika’s (B.F.A., graphic design, 2009) “I am a Writer” design on T-shirts, coasters and mugs, reflecting Hank Moody’s inner turmoil

Ave’ Lallemant, a SCAD alumna and former Working Class Studio intern, said of the opportunity to work with Showtime and Working Class Studio on products destined for the marketplace, “Working with a corporate client like Showtime was a fantastic real-world experience. Putting my degree to use outside the classroom made me feel validated as an educated professional in the design field.”

In all, the products celebrate Showtime’s popular original programming and encompasses “Californication,” “Dexter,” “Nurse Jackie,” “The Tudors,” “United States of Tara” and “Weeds.” The Premiere Collection 2009 builds on the success of last year’s line and makes it possible for fans of the Showtime series to take home unique products inspired by their favorite shows. Other products include tote bags, candles and mouse pads, representing the work of more than a dozen SCAD student and alumni artists. Prices affordably range from $9.99-44.99, and the collection is available through www.sho.com and www.shopscad.com, as well as the shopSCAD boutiques in Savannah and Atlanta.
