SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah College of Art and Design senior film and television student Jason Sheedy recently was selected as the winner of the "Late Night Intern Contest" for NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." As an intern for the program, Sheedy will create videos about his life at SCAD to be broadcast on air and also posted to the show's Emmy Award-winning blog.
Sheedy, of Morris, Ill., submitted a video to the contest after hearing about it from a friend. For the competition, university students were asked to submit a "video of their world." His video, "The Adventures of Jason Sheedy: Late Night Intern," is a humorous tour of his life at SCAD. In it, he introduces his friends, his mom and his animated toast-friend, "Toastie."
Sheedy appeared live on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" Friday, Sept. 18, when his winning video was presented on air and he accepted the internship. Fallon proclaimed the video "great."
"One thing led to another, and all of a sudden I'm sitting on a chair next to Jimmy Fallon in New York City-it was just such a surreal experience," said Sheedy. "I'm so grateful for the opportunity the show has given me and for the chance to really jump into something that will have a major effect on my future."
Sheedy has been making films since high school. His most recent short, "Bloodline," will be presented as part of both the 2009 Naperville, Ill., Independent Film Festival and the 2009 Chicago Horror Film Festival this month.
