Industrial design renews sponsorship project with VTech

A corporate-sponsored project with VTech, a world leader in cordless telephones and electronic learning devices, last spring resulted in two industrial design students being offered internships and one a full-time job with the Hong Kong based company.
Throughout the entire 10-week spring quarter 2008, a group of undergraduate industrial design students, taught by professor Peter Fossick, researched and developed product designs for VTech. The group traveled to Hong Kong for two weeks to present their ideas, the first time a group of SCAD students has traveled overseas to present to an international client.
This spring quarter students will again have the opportunity to develop product ideas for VTech and travel to Hong Kong to present their ideas. The experience will likely result in additional SCAD students being offered internships and/or full-time positions with the company. VTech senior design manager David Waterman will again mentor the class and give several lectures during visits to Savannah.
VTech is among the many companies with which the SCAD industrial design department has partnerships, including JCB, Gulfstream, Kicker, Hobie Cat and Rubbermaid.
