SCAD features fall exhibitions in conjunction with ACSA Southeast Fall Conference

“Vision Building: Architecture in Contemporary Photography" will be at the Gutstein Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St., Oct. 5-Nov. 15.

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Savannah College of Art and Design is hosting early fall exhibitions showcasing a line-up of architectural work in conjunction with the 2009 Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture Southeast Fall Conference Oct. 8-10 in Savannah.

SCAD's Pinnacle Gallery in Savannah will host "Point of Entry." "Extra-Muros: Architectures of Delight" will be featured at Eichberg Hall in Savannah as well as at SCAD Atlanta, and "Vision Building" will be featured at Gutstein Gallery in Savannah. All exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public.

Exhibitions include:

Sept. 30-Nov. 4
"Point of Entry: The Space Between Art and Architecture"
Pinnacle Gallery, 302 E. Liberty St.
Artist gallery talk with Lucy Williams: Oct. 30, 5 p.m.
Reception: Oct. 30, 6-8 p.m.
"Point of Entry" explores the reciprocal relationship between art and architecture, featuring sculptural works by Scott Ingram and Lucy Williams and photographs by Josef Schulz.

Oct. 2-Nov. 6
"Extra-Muros: Architectures of Delight"
SCAD Savannah: Eichberg Hall, 229 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
SCAD Atlanta: 1600 Peachtree St.
"Extra-Muros: Architectures of Delight" is an exhibition originally produced and designed from a catalog of photographs and critiques of contemporary architecture. It focuses on architecture that is in tune with current urban situations and territorial or program-related issues that are relevant throughout the world.

"Extra-Muros, Architectures of Delight" is an international touring exhibition organized by CULTURESFRANCE and the Ministry of Culture and Communication - Department of Architecture and Heritage. It was initially presented by the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine / Institut Français d'Architecture and the Institut Français Düsseldorf.

"Vision Building: Architecture in Contemporary Photography"
Gutstein Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St.
Reception: Oct. 30, 6-8 p.m.
"Vision Building" includes the work of artists Abrie Fourie, Dionisio González, Naoki Honjo, Candida Höfer and Catherine Opie. These artists expand upon visual perspectives in contemporary photography by portraying a range of architectural styles via micro and macro points of view.
