Foundation studies students win American Artist competition

Two SCAD students enrolled in foundation studies courses were selected as winners of the national American Artist: Drawing Magazine Scholarship Competition, sponsored by Chartpak. Undergraduate illustration student Casey Crisenbery was selected for the Grand Prize, which included a $5,000 scholarship to SCAD plus an Artist's Kit from Chartpak. Undergraduate illustration student Natalie Clapp was selected as one of five finalists and received a $500 scholarship to SCAD plus a Studio Kit from Chartpak.

Students across the United States were nominated for the competition by teachers and professors. Winning entries were selected based on their demonstration of inventiveness, craftsmanship and promise.

SCAD foundation studies professor John Rise nominated and mentored Crisenberry for the competition, and SCAD foundation studies professor Jesse Payne nominated and mentored Clapp for the competition.
