The exhibition “Rapture/ New Work,” on display in the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Hall Street Gallery through April 28, marks the culmination of a quarter of work by visiting artist Steve Locke in conjunction with faculty and students.

Locke, who was the painting department’s visiting artist during Winter 2008, collaborated with printmaking faculty and students from a variety of majors to produce the series of photo-lithographic prints showcased in “Rapture/ New Work,” as well as another series of intaglio plates to be featured at a later exhibition.

Professor Eun Lee collaborated with Locke on the suite of 13 photo-lithographic prints, which were printed in an edition of 15, with two artist’s and one printer’s proof. Locke also designed the archival box in which the prints are stored.

Assisting with the project were printmaking professor Jennifer Jenkins and illustration student Ben Stanley, graphic design students Ned Drummond and Melissa Turner, and graphic design and printmaking student Ryan Place.

Jenkins also assisted Locke with the intaglio prints, which were printed in an edition of 10. The work relates to his “Rapture” body of work and will be featured in an exhibition at a later date. Assistants were graphic design student Jessica Lovell and fibers student Lauren Vass.
