Finalists announced in SCADDY Awards competition

Last week, judging concluded for the annual SCADDY Awards competition, which honors student achievement in the advertising arts and related creative disciplines. The panel of five prominent advertising professionals included B.A. Albert, Bob Conquest, Bill Mayer, Bill Shirk and Bob Wages.

The numbers are impressive: this year garnered 1,800 entries from SCAD-Atlanta, SCAD-Savannah and SCAD-eLearning. The competition's 25 categories cover everything from logos to copywriting. Three of the judges reviewed 500 "select" entries, and ultimately, 140 finalists were selected: the top 8 percent of all entries.

At the awards ceremony at the Trustees Theater Saturday, Jan. 24, SCAD will announce which students receive the 50 Silver awards, 30 Gold awards, and the highest honor: Best of Show. Student submissions also are displayed at the SCADDY Awards exhibition Jan. 9-25 at the Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St.

SCADDY Award-winning work goes on to be entered into the ADDY® Awards, the advertising industry's awards competition for professionals, and can advance from local to regional and national-level competitions. Last year's SCADDY winners went on to earn Silver, Gold, and Best-Of-Show ADDY Awards at the local level, then Silver and Gold ADDY Awards at the regional and national levels.
