- About SCAD
Green screens. HD cameras. Cintiq drawing tablets. A Foley soundstage. A fully functioning television studio. Printers that print in three dimensions. A state-of-the-art sculpture foundry. Vicon motion capture studios. SCAD students have all the advanced professional-level tools and toys they could need or want to help them realize their creative visions and passions, with a unique array of technology at SCAD Savannah, SCAD Atlanta, SCAD Hong Kong and SCAD Lacoste. In every department, students work with the same advanced technologies and instruments that they will soon be using as professionals. At SCAD, specialized educational resources help students traverse their areas of study and push the limits of their disciplines.
In sound design, students have the rare opportunity to become Pro Tools certified before graduating, as SCAD is an Avid Pro Tools Certification School for audio postproduction. In fibers, students work on the digital Jacquard loom, one of the most sophisticated textile machines in the world. In industrial and furniture design, students use SolidWorks and multiple 3-D printers to produce ABS and polycarbonate 3-D models. In photography, students expose and process RA-4 photographic materials using powerful high-resolution printers including a Durst Theta printer and an Epsilon printer-as well as traditional chemical processes. In SCAD's many film and digital media degree programs, students utilize extensive film production facilities and equipment including the Steadicam EFP, Super Panther and Fisher dollies, two chroma key-green screen studios and an ICON D-Control professional recording studio.
